I've been talking to the owner of a 91 British Racing Green car. I know about the potential crankshaft problems for these years. That is for cars with a vin under 209446 and this car is 231874, so Im good. Do I need to worry about the VLSD wearing down or anything? And are there any other things to know specific to this year?

Yeah...LSDs are a bit fragile on the 1.6 too. Nothing crazy though. Also, it uses R12 as freon for the A/C. You might need to convert it to R134a if you can't find R12. Maybe the conversion has been done already.

I figure I can just find a 94+ LSD if something happens. And I might delete the AC so that isn't high on my worries.

Not a terrible price. Tops are too expensive and u can get ones with glass windows instead.
